Spicy Cuisine and Snowy Mountains

When I travel, I believe in eating the local cuisine.
And when I'm traveling in the southwest... my tummy is very happy.
We started each day at Carver's- which is the place for breakfast in Durango.
Each morning they feature a few specials
and on this Friday, I had the enchiladas and Mark had the pancakes.
We were both very pleased.
I'm so glad we stayed in town long enough for me to also have
 this on Saturday
and this on Sunday
Mark is amazed that I can eat food like this.
I could never clean my plate, but boy did I
enjoy every bite I ate.   Heuvos Rancheros...yum!
You just don't get breakfast like this in NC.
Good thing too - I would be a very large person.
After a hearty breakfast we were ready for some sightseeing.
We had a great tour guide -
doesn't he look like a Colorado poster boy?
We took a road trip through mining country.
I loved the little town of Silverton.
How cute is this Main Street?
I wouldn't want to live here though.  They only have 30 - 60 days
a year when the temperature is above freezing.  No thank you!!

Now these are real mountains folks.  Colorado has around
forty eight 14,000 ft. peaks and in this pass, we saw
Twilight Peak which is one of them.
This pass was amazing to drive through.
We jumped out to get a few pictures
and then I jumped back in.  It was cold and windy!
Apparently, this is appropriate footwear for playing in the snow
 if you live in Colorado?
