I never imagined turning fifty could be so much fun!!
The day began with many well wishes from Facebook friends,
text messages, "over the phone" birthday songs, phone calls
and a lazy morning soak in a big tub of bubbles!
I received flowers in all shades of red and pink
chocolates
a visit from a dear friend
with the most amazing gift - a birthday card "party"
a box filled with cards from friends from all over - even one
that came across the ocean. This friend knows how much I love cards.
(in my younger days, I wanted to work in a Hallmark store so I could
look at all the cards and get paid for it. :) Later in the day, as I sat and
read each card, I shed more than a few tears. The sentiments were so
touching and the time each person took to send me a card with
encouraging words was a priceless gift that I will always cherish. I loved it.
In the afternoon, I decided to visit Shara at Talbots and do a
little birthday shopping. I found these cute tops on the
clearance rack and with my birthday discount they were a bargain.
I think the peach ruffled shell will look cute under a jean jacket or
sweater and the poet shirt - well that will be for when I'm feeling
all poetic, with jeans and my gold flats. The necklace was a
gift from Shara. It looks nice with both tops.
Because shopping wears me out, I came home and read in a
favorite book and took a nap. As you get older, you begin
to realize what a gift a nap can be. :)
Later that evening we went to what has become the place to celebrate
birthdays in our family and one of my favorite restaurants,
Hobnob - in downtown Brevard.
Shara and Travis joined us for dinner.
(someone doesn't look happy in this picture - but it wasn't me!)
The food was amazing. The meals were served beautifully.
I had this tasty seared sesame encrusted tuna
with wasabi mashed potatoes and julienned vegetables.
And chocolate mousse sundae for dessert
Blowing out the candle..... and wishing that I could turn
fifty all over again!
A very yummy meal.
Flowers, gifts, candy, books, new clothes, nap
bubble bath, fine food, visits with friends and family.
All in all - a perfect day.
I felt very spoiled and indulged and
I appreciated everyone who made my birthday special.
What a blessing to have so many wonderful
friends and family.
I love you all!
Looks like a good time at dinner and super cute tops!
