Carbon Junction

While in Colorado, I knew I wanted to do a little hiking.
This area is heaven for the outdoor enthusiast.  Durango
has a network of trails for hiking and biking.  We had a little
time and a break in the rainy/snowy weather, so we headed
to a trailhead.  I had a great hiking buddy.
This wasn't a very long hike, but it felt good to
stretch my legs, get my heart rate elevated and
be in the beautiful outdoors.  I could tell a
difference in hiking in this elevation.  It was harder.
The scenery was breathtaking and so different from what I
see in NC.
We don't have this in Pisgah Forest.
I wouldn't want to take a tumble into those.  Ouch!
Durango is right on the edge of several habitats.  It is desert,
but within a few minutes you are in the middle of gorgeous
mountains.  It's such a pretty place.
I loved hiking with Jantzen.  I wish he lived closer, because
I would always have someone to hike with.  But then I wouldn't
have an excuse to travel to Colorado....I'm already scheming
on how I can get back out there this summer to do more hiking
in the mountains.
After a hike, a little Cold Stone ice cream hits the spot.

*Goal # 1 - Take 50 hikes.
Goal # 28 - Visit Dillon and Jantzen in Colorado

  1. I'm so glad you were able to get away to see the boys. Looks like an awesome hike. Please don't move to Colorado. It's too far!
