Time to dust off the dancing shoes?

This weekend, I had the opportunity to see the Brigham Young
University Young Ambassadors perform at UNCA.  They are an
award winning group from the School of Music in the College of
Fine Arts and Communication.  They were so entertaining.  I went
with my friend, Susana and we had a wonderful time.

The theme of the program was Harmony - The Music of Life and
the description on the program stated -" From one end of history to
the other, people have been capturing life's experiences in song.
Melodies form every corner of the globe accompany the events
that fill the pages of our days.  As we encounter life's trials and
difficulties, there are always experiences - big or small- that make
the whole journey worth the effort.  Harmony - The Music of Life
celebrates the unforgettable times when we find joy along the way!"

For two hours, we clapped and tapped our feet and watched some
very talented young people do what they love - sing and dance.

I took some pictures and was pleased that a few came out.  I am
still learning how to take pictures in low lighting situations.

I loved these dresses.  I'm not sure about the pink suits though.  I must
say they did look good on stage.

It was a fun evening and brought back all kinds of memories for
me.  When I was in college, Mark and I were in a performing arts
troupe.  It was a community college and we were definitely a low
budget group, but it was fun.  I came home and dug around in some
old albums and found these pictures from  long, long ago......
when I was much younger and thinner.

This was a number from Oklahoma and I'm the one in the red and
white dress, second from the right.

Mark and I are the couple on the right in the front.
This was how we met and began dating..... Mark says
that was the only reason he agreed to be in this show.
This was all very out of character for him - so I believe
it.  Love makes you do some strange things sometimes.
I'm sure glad he joined up.

This was a number from West Side Story.  Wish I still had
the energy and flexibility to do that.

I have no idea what the clown suits were all about.
It has been a long time.  I do know it was fun dressing up in all the different costumes.

My favorite number was the one from My Fair Lady.  I felt so elegant dancing in that long, blue skirt and big floppy hat.  I could almost imagine I was
Audrey Hepburn.  It's still one of my favorite movies.

Unlike the performers I saw this weekend who could sing and dance,
I was strictly a dancer who sang in the chorus.   No microphone attached
to my head!  But I did love dancing and it makes me want to put on some
dancing shoes and take a few classes.  My performing days are definitely
over , but it would be fun to dance again, not to mention, good exercise.
Ballet, tap, ballroom, clogging, swing or maybe some zumba?   Any one
interested in joining me?  I don't think I will have any luck getting Mark
on board this time - he already got the girl!

* Goal # 38 - Attend four cultural events this year.
* Goal # 26 - Improve my photography skills.
* Goal # 27 - Organize old photos.
